WDU Organizes a Webinar on Grant Writing


In furtherance of the vision and mission of Western Delta University (WDU), the Institute of Delta and Development Studies of WDU in collaboration with the Institute of Peace and Security Studies, Niger Delta University, Bayelsa State, organized a workshop on grant writing and academic publishing on February 3, 2022.  The workshop was focused on training researchers to develop or enhance their capacity to prepare successful research grant proposals, write for publication in high impact factor international journals and carry out collaborative interdisciplinary work. It was a hands-on workshop that helped participants to know how to develop grant proposals and win grants to support personal research, higher education Institutions and non-governmental research organizations.

Among the presenters was Dr. Cyril Obi, Director, Africa Initiatives of the Social Science Research Council, New York, and former Associate Research Professor at the Nigeria Institute for International Affairs. Dr. Obi explained the technicalities involved in preparing grant-wining research proposals and how grant proposals are evaluated by funding institutions. He also encouraged all the participants to apply for African Peacebuilding Network (APN) and Next Generation Social Sciences in Africa research grants. Participants in the training were drawn from different academic institutions such as Caleb University; Edo State University; Institute of Peace and Conflict Resolution, Abuja; University of Port Harcourt; Niger Delta University and Western Delta University. All the participants were issued certificates at the end of the training.
